Since 2010, the Youth Sports Safety Alliance has worked to raise awareness, advance legislation and improve medical care for young athletes across the country. In 2013, there were an estimated 1.24 million emergency room visits for injuries related to 14 commonly played sports in children ages 19 and under. The Alliance is committed to reducing those numbers and improving the health and safety of young athletes. Spearheaded by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, more than 250 organizations have joined together in the knowledge that speaking and acting collectively is more effective.
The Youth Sports Safety Alliance has helped support and advance many important youth sports safety initiatives in recent years:
- National Action Plan for Sports Safety
- Secondary School Student Athletes’ Bill of Rights
